Godegården Roland Höckert
Swedish regenerative farm Godegården produces biochar from local wood shavings and seed residues, utilizing generated heat internally and supplying biochar to farms and urban projects. Standardized for 1,000-year persistence, the project targets 1,250 tCO2eq sequestered over five years.
Biochar production is an integral part of the regenerative farm Godegården, as the fuel is sourced locally and from the farm, the heat heats the buildings and parts of the biochar is used for both animals and the soil. Godegården also sells biochar to other Swedish farms and a variety of urban plantations such as tree plantings and football fields. The project will increase carbon sequestration by working the produced biochar into different matrices to create a long-term carbon storage with a persistence of up to 1000 years as according to the Global Biochar C-Sink Standard. Without the project, no C-sink would be created since wood shavings, seed husks and rejected seeds do not constitute a long-term carbon reservoir. In the initial 5 years of the project we expect carbon sequestration of approximately 1250 CO2eq in total or 250 CO2eq / year.
